In a survey conducted by the Employee Benefit Research Institute, it’s no surprise to see that 75% of employees say that the benefits package associated with a job is one of the most important factors. But don’t worry businesses; it doesn’t have to be expensive.
New research conducted by Paymentsense has shown that it’s not the expensive perks that employees want. In fact, it’s the complete opposite.
The survey, based on 2,000 full time office workers, found that the main perks that staff want are early Friday finishes, flexi hours and the odd free day off here and there. Not much to ask at all!
Of course, there’s going to be the odd workplace perk that will be expensive, but the research has shown that at least 60% of the desired perks are, what we call, cheap!
The top 10 desired workplace perks:
- Early Friday finishes (35%)
- Unlimited holiday (35%)
- Bonuses (32%)
- Flexi hours (30%)
- Days off for duvet days, birthdays and moving house (28%)
- Performance-based bonuses (25%)
- Gym membership (22%)
- Remote working (21%)
- Free fruit/snacks (18%)
- Extra training (15%)
Further to Paymentsense’s research, 10% of workers aren’t offered any workplace perks and would consider changing jobs as a result.
Based on Paymentsense’s findings, we would love to hear what your desired workplace perk would be. Let us know!
