Great news! Employment in the UK hit a fresh record last month, according to statistics from the Office for National Statistics.

The report found that the employment rate grew to a huge 74.9% in June, a record high since comparable data was first gathered in 1971.

According to the ONS (Office for National Statistics), there were 32.01 million people in jobs in June 2017 – whether that’s full time or part time roles – 175,000 more than for December 2016 – February 2017 and 324,000 more than for the previous year.

Looking further into the report, there were 1.49 million unemployed people, 64,000 fewer than for December 2016 – February 2017 and 152,000 fewer than the previous year.

The good news doesn’t end there. The report also found that weekly wages, excluding bonuses, grew 2% in May, picking up from a 1.7% growth in April and beating an overall forecast of 1.9%.

We’re delighted to see these positive figures for employment in the UK amidst all the doubts arising during Brexit.
