Whilst you will be receiving developmental help from your company, boss and other internal resources, it is vital that you take responsibility for your own development.
It is for this reason that we have explained the ‘conscious competence’ model – which is well known amongst trainers, coaches and teachers. Ultimately the most important coach and manager you will have as a recruiter is yourself. So get used to utilising this model to assess yourself in the key skills of your job and then to apply the appropriate development method with this in mind.
Everyone will reach a level of unconscious competence if they do something for long enough, but in this case, it pays to be impatient! Your job is to get as many of the key skills to a level of unconscious competence as quickly as possible.
