It is important that we see the candidate profile as a ‘filtering’ process. For all sorts of reasons, you want to move suitable candidates through the process quickly, professionally and painlessly. You should also be viewing this as a chance for you eliminate unsuitable individuals quickly, professionally and painlessly from the process. You want to have less people on your shortlist than you did on your long list! Before we profile them, we refer to these people as ‘suspects’ – we suspect that they are right for the job, but we don’t know for sure.
