“Time kills all deals” so adopt a strategy that is likely to minimise delay.  Arrange for the candidate to call you immediately after the final interview and book in a telephone interview to gain feedback from the client as soon as possible.  Watch uncertainty and dithering from either party at this stage and if necessary utilise the ‘fear of loss’ to retain control e.g. “Mr Candidate, I appreciate that you have other opportunities to consider, it’s only fair to remind you that there were other candidates at final interview stage who impressed and we can’t afford for the client to see any delay as a lack of commitment on your part.”
