Many recruitment consultants do an awful lot of recruiting but precious little consultancy.  Recruiters fill jobs and that’s it – they don’t recognise that they have the potential to add a lot more value to the people around them and because they don’t recognise this value, their candidates and clients don’t value them much either.  They are seen purely as brokers when the client wants a candidate or the candidate wants a job.  By definition, a consultant will do more than just recruit – they advise, offer additional services and solutions and as a result are much more highly prized by people they work with.  So you know how to recruit, try to move consciously towards becoming a consultant.
